Carlo Acutis Relic to visit City Quay Church

The Primary relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis will be coming back to Ireland between the 10th-17th of September from Assisi. Accompanied by Fr. Marco OFM and two Capuchin Friars, the primary relic contains a piece of the heart Carlo Acutis and has touched the lives of many during previous relic visits here to Ireland.

On this occasion, the relic will first stop in Dublin on the 10th-11th of September and pay a visit to St. Patrick’s Church in Corduff (including an All night vigil). From there the relic will be brought to St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Portlaois on the 12th-13th of September and then to St. Mary’s Church in Navan on the 15th-16th of September. The relic will then make its final stop in Dublin on the 17th of September, arriving by boat down the River Liffey (weather permitting) to the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, City Quay Parish in Dublin.

Since 2023, the Primary Relic has visited the Dioceses of Armagh, Derry, Down & Conor, Dromore, Tuam and Clogher. However, this will be the first visit made since the canonization of Carlo was officially announced back in July by Pope Francis. The visit is being coordinated by Brenda Cleary, Director of Carlo Acutis Ireland, who is hoping the people of Ireland will come out to venerate the Relic of this new Millennium Saint of the Internet who had a great devotion to the Eucharist and aimed to always be united with Jesus in his life.

Youth directors, Mary-Aoife and Séamus Ong who are coordinating the relic visit with Brenda say that Carlo Acutis has greatly impacted their lives and has helped them to be full of joy and hope in their day to day living. Their hope is that other young people will also be inspired by the story and life of Carlo Acutis and that Ireland can be filled with faith again.
